Martin Müller
The man behind the trout farm
Born in Mediaș in 1957, he left for Germany at 21 and came back to Romania at 48 to look after what he had started here.
The story
From Mediaș to Karlsruhe and back
He grew up in Mediaș, where he went to German-language schools — first Ștefan Ludwig Roth, then the Axente Sever German-language high school. After military service and a year of mechanical engineering at the Politehnica University of Timișoara, he left for Germany in 1978.
There he studied engineering and computer science at the University of Karlsruhe, then worked for fifteen years at ABB in Mannheim — first as a computer engineer, later as head of the IT department. From 1998 he owned his own software company, SOBIS Software GmbH.
In 1999 he founded SOBIS SRL in Romania and, in the same year, Albota Trout Farm. In 2006, at the age of 48, he returned for good, and SOBIS invested two million euros in tourism at Albota and in agriculture at Poienița.

Married, with children. He loves hiking, orienteering, jogging and ecology — which goes a long way towards explaining what the complex looks like today.
