Sustainability comes first at Albota Complex

Promoting environmental sustainability

Albota Complex is committed to promoting sustainability and environmental friendliness in all aspects of our business. Here, we want to become as environmentally friendly as possible in order to have the least impact on the environment. We believe that each of us has a responsibility to contribute to caring for the environment, which is why we have invested in sustainable ways to produce our electricity, provide our water and source our food.

Blending tradition with modern

At Albota it is important to combine the traditional with the modern because from the very beginning we have aimed to combine the tourist side with the agricultural side, to make sure that our guests get the best products and services. That’s why we have invested in sustainability here. The Albota complex and Pastravaria Albota has solar panels that together with the hydroelectric power plant provide us with electricity, 14 trout ponds and a farm near Cartisoara where we raise our own animals that provide us with food to prepare the dishes served in our restaurants and shops.

Organic food for our guests

The complex is also home to numerous workshops producing sausages, processing milk and cheese, producing bread and other foods such as sauces, jams and fruit jams. By sustainability we rely on organic and ecological production, being advocates of healthy and natural living.

Electricity
renewable

The Albota Complex and the Albota Mill run their operations with a strong emphasis on the use of renewable energy, so we place a strong emphasis on sustainability. Here, photovoltaic panels are used to produce the electricity needed to power buildings and lakes. These solar panels, strategically placed on the complex’s grounds, capture solar energy and convert it into clean, sustainable electricity. The complex also has its own hydropower plant, which uses the hydropower resources available in the area to produce electricity.

This combination of photovoltaic panels and hydropower demonstrates the Albota Complex’s commitment to the use of renewable energy and reducing environmental impact. By producing its own electricity, the Albota Complex and the Albota Mill contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a more sustainable and healthier world for future generations.

Drilling and
water extraction

The Albota complex and the Albota Mill enjoy an enviable autonomy in terms of water supply. The resort drills its own drinking water from 300 meters deep, ensuring that they have a clean and safe source for their daily activities. The water treatment systems in place ensure that the water extracted is purified and safe for consumption, meeting national and international quality standards.

Creating a natural and sustainable environment

In addition, the water in the Albota fishing ponds comes directly from the nearby river, providing a natural and healthy environment for trout farming. This not only ensures a higher quality of fish, but also helps to promote sustainable practices and environmental conservation. The Albota Resort and Quarry is constantly committed to improving and protecting the environment, and the use of the nearby river water for fishing ponds is further proof of this commitment.

Natural products

Pastravaria Albota offers healthy food options, as we produce more than 80% of the food and drinks we offer to our guests in our restaurants and shops within the complex and the related farms. The complex is renowned for its own sustainable food production.

Food from own production

Albota has 14 lakes set up for trout farming and fishing, which are then used to produce our delicious smoked trout dishes. In addition, the complex has a farm where we raise over 2000 animals such as sheep, cows, buffalo, Angus cattle, goats, rabbits and ducks.

In order to meet the food requirements of our customers, Albota has production workshops for cold cuts, milk processing and cheese production. We also have our own smokehouse and bakery, which ensure the freshness and quality of our products.

Bakery
Albota Complex

Bread baked on the hearth is an ancestral art that reminds us of times long gone, when housewives spent days in the kitchen, painstakingly preparing food for the whole family. Today, the Albota Complex is bringing back this tradition, offering you the opportunity to savour the warmth of tradition with every slice of fresh bread. Using a traditional wood-fired oven, our bread is baked in a unique way that gives it a special taste and texture.

The process of baking bread in a wood-fired oven is complex and requires skill and skill. The wood is lit in the oven and the oven walls heat up, creating a unique atmosphere in which the bread develops its perfect flavours and consistency. By baking on the hearth, the bread acquires a crispy crust and a soft, fluffy crumb that melts in the mouth.
